Xbox One games look best on the world’s most powerful console

Following on from the immense success of the Xbox 360, a whole host of sequels and follow-up entries have successfully made their way to Xbox One. Halo, Gears of War and Dead Rising is just a small crop of Xbox One titles that went bigger and better for the next generation. This is especially the case for players that own an Xbox One X console, which renders most Xbox One games at a smoother framerate, higher graphical fidelity and with much better lighting.

This extra ‘oomph’ is something that also translates to multiplatform games. Xbox One X – and even Xbox One S, to a certain extent – is simply the best way to play high-profile franchises like Call of Duty, Battlefield and Grand Theft Auto V, largely due to the many technical advantages listed above. You’re also never left wanting when it comes to great Xbox One games that span many genres, whether it’s a colourful platformer, sci-fi space epic or a dedicated cowboy simulator.

Xbox Live Gold unlocks online multiplayer and more

Xbox One’s chief subscription service works much in the same way as it did in the 360 era. Xbox Live Gold grants you with the ability to play multiplayer-centric games like Call of Duty and Halo online against others, but you also receive free games – two for Xbox One and two for Xbox 360. All four can be played on the Xbox One and they’re yours to keep forever once downloaded.

A rotating library of 100 titles with Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is another subscription that makes it easier for players to access games they otherwise mightn’t check out, opening up a whole world of choice with a rotating library of 100 games playable at any one time. In a similar manner to Netflix, games move in and out of the Xbox Game Pass selection. A major boon to Xbox Game Pass is that first-party titles arrive on day one.

High-budget Xbox exclusive franchises

Microsoft has built up an impressive roster of first-party studios over the years, many of which have continued the bombastic action of legacy franchises like Halo and Gears of War. Giant high-budget epics like this take full advantage of the Xbox One console family’s hardware capabilities and are unplayable on any other console. These join a host of all-new worlds and characters.

Cross-play with Switch and PC

With the rise of immensely popular free-to-play games such as Fortnite and Apex Legends, players these days are constantly hungry for cross-play support across consoles. This is something Microsoft has continued to champion with the Xbox One player base, with people here having the ability to play against Nintendo Switch and PC opponents for a select few titles.
