How much will Nintendo Switch be on Black Friday?
There will definitely be some very exciting discounts on the Nintendo Switch come Black Friday, but quite how much it’s difficult to say. Complicating matters is there are now three distinct versions of the Switch. The Switch Lite has an RRP of £199, and it’s already possible to get a game like Minecraft thrown in for free with the console. As it’s a new device, we’re not expecting a huge drop, but it may hit £180 on its own or £199 with an AAA title like Mario Kart 8. The extended battery version of the Switch could drop to around £250, or may be available with a good game for around £270 (£9.99 under RRP for the console on its own). The real wildcard is the original version of the main Switch. This has already dropped to around the £235 mark during 2019 with Ebay codes and other promotions, and now it’s been replaced by the new longer battery life version, we might see some huge discounts as retailers look to clear out their stock.
When will Nintendo Switch Black Friday deals start in UK?
We’re now less than a fortnight away from Black Friday, and there’s already some truly incredible deals available on both the full Switch (extended battery edition) and the Switch Lite. Most of these exceptional offers are coming via Ebay. The deals you see listed above are for brand new products, sold by reputable stores that use Ebay as an additional storefront, such as ShopTo. The difference between their Ebay store and their regular one is that Ebay regularly run big promotions in order to incentivise people to sign up and buy via Ebay. There is one of these sales running right now, and you can see the full run down of deals by using the retailer filter above. Elsewhere, Currys already have a truly outstanding deal – for £279, the RRP of the Switch by itself, you can get a console (the extended battery version) with either Pokemon Sword of Pokemon Shield for absolutely free!
Black Friday is no longer a specific day – deals tend to start appearing as early as the beginning of November. We expect two weeks before (around November 18th) for some retailers to launch some deals. Then, at the start of the Black Friday week itself, we’ll see a further set of discounts. Finally, though Black Friday falls on the 29th, expect most retailers to launch their biggest discounts from around 6PM the night before, on Thursday the 28th – though if you’re worried about stock, you might want to take the jump sooner, as these deals can sell out extremely quickly. We also expect that the weeks before and following Black Friday could see some very good Ebay promotions to discount prices further from the likes of ShopTo, Argos and Currys.
Is it worth waiting for Nintendo Switch deals on Black Friday?
It’s all a question of how determined you are to get your hands on a specific bundle, and whether you’re happy to take the chance on it hitting a certain price point. In our experience, it’s not uncommon for some retailers to completely run out of stock on Black Friday morning (or even Thursday night!) of certain bundles, so if there’s one you’re looking for and you think the price is reasonable, it may be worth buying sooner instead of risking missing out altogether. If you’re simply looking for the best deal around, then we highly recommend waiting for Black Friday – or at least the night before, even though we expect that of the three consoles, the Switch (as the newest) will see the most conservative discounting.
How much was the Switch last year on Black Friday?
Last year, the Switch hit a low of around £250 with the likes of Currys, Amazon and others all hitting this mark for the solus console. An Ebay code around a week after Black Friday took the price down further to £237.99. This was a fantastic price at the time, but it’s one we’ve already seen replicated a few times in 2019 already, and with retailers looking to shift stock of the original Switch, we could see prices dip even lower on the original console model.
