Players looking for a goofier, more anarchic version of Grand Theft Auto could always rely on Deep Silver’s Saints Row series. Unfortunately it’s spent a lot of time on hiatus, but now a remaster of the third – and arguably best – entry into the franchise has arrived on PS4 and Xbox One to help resolve that. Saints Row: The Third Remastered is the same sensational sandbox game you remember, looking better than ever thanks to some smart visual upgrades.
Saints Row: The Third picks up several years after the second game, following the titular crew as they have risen up through the ranks to achieve global stardom. Because of this they have almost unlimited resources at their disposal, and you get to make use of them across an explosive campaign as your own custom created character.
Create chaos in the sprawling city of Steelport on PS4 and Xbox One
Saints Row: The Third -The Full Package features enhanced graphics to have the city of Steelport look and feel better than ever. Improved lighting combines with HDR rendering to really bring Saints Row: The Third up to date, almost as if it’s a brand new game that released in 2020. That’s a good thing considering that this is the entry Saints Row fans often feel is the franchise’s peak. Using weapons of crass destruction is now even more addicting.
The ultimate Saints Row package, featuring all DLC
The original Saints Row: The Third was always a sizeable game, but this remastered package ups the value even more by packing in all three expansion mission packs – and 30 pieces of DLC. You’ll be skydiving, jumping and racing your way across the streets in no time, always with more stuff to check out and see.
Two-player co-op returns for double trouble
Even still, it’s quite rare for an open world game of this caliber to feature two-player online co-op. Saints Row: The Third Remastered, however, doesn’t disappoint in this regard, allowing you to team up with a friend to complete objectives and cause destruction in whatever way you see fit. Online co-op is completely seamless, allowing for players to drop in/drop out without a hitch.
