It was already clear Insomniac’s latest Sci-Fi platformer was capable of impressive things on Sony’s next gen console, but now it’s also defying expectations in real life, too. How? Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has sold more in its second week of release than it did during its first – an incredible rarity when it comes to boxed retail games.
This news was revealed by business-focussed games site GamesIndustry.biz, which noted “we have seen second-week increases before, but typically to games like Just Dance, which don't have a big pre-order market and instead speak to more casual users who are less inclined to buy week one.” The 2% increase in boxed UK games sales comfortably makes Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart the best-selling game that week, indicating that good word of mouth is spreading with regard’s to Sony’s latest PlayStation 5 exclusive game.
We at Gaming Deals loved Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart when it first released back on June 11th, dubbing it as “an absolute blast from start to finish”. It is, of course, one of the very few games capable of showcasing the full power of the PS5, giving those lucky enough to own one something ideal for showing off the next-gen tech. It joins this exclusive club alongside few other PS5 exclusives like Demon’s Souls, Godfall and Returnal.
