Xbox One will release 60+ playable demos this month in honour of Summer Game Fest

The continuing pandemic has led to a lot of changes in the video game industry this year, but one of the biggest is in the absence of a singular ‘E3-style’ event where major announcements and reveals occur within a week or so. Rather, a lot of publishers have instead been hosting their own events, and now Microsoft looks to be taking the cake by hosting over 60 demos on Xbox at the end of this month.

Announced in partnership with Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, the news was revealed in a post on the official Xbox news wire – Microsoft will make 60 all-new game demos available to try on Xbox One from July 21 until July 27. How many demos can you get through in just one week? Now’s the perfect time to find out.

The full list of all 60 demos is yet to be released, but the handful revealed so far suggests that the type of games available to download and try will be quite varied. Here are the games we know are set to appear so far:

  • Cris Tales
  • Destroy All Humans!
  • Haven
  • Hellpoint
  • Skatebird
  • The Vale: Shadow of the Crown
  • Raji: An Ancient Epic
  • Welcome to Elk

Microsoft was quick to mention its post that these won’t take the form of “normal game demos” intended to represent the final version, but are rather more akin to the pre-release vertical slices punters at video game expos visiting the show floor would typically get to try. All 60 will be accessible from the Xbox One dashboard from July 21st, therein disappearing soon after.
