UK players are the best at Mario Kart, according to a new study

Against all odds, a new report from game-focused data publisher Kwalee has revealed that the best nation at playing Mario Kart are those from the United Kingdom. Crazy, right? We can’t quite believe it either. However, this was just one titbit of information out of many that was unearthed as part of a wider study, which considered over 16,000 different games and investigated the top-ranking country achievements accomplished for each.

As Kwalee explained over on its post: “Using data available online totalling over 42,000 achievements that range from the quickest completion times to high scores, Kwalee ranked countries by how many achievements residents of each had scored, divided by population size to give fair scoring.”

Players from England came out on top when it comes to Mario Kart, in addition to Rock Band and Tekken, too. Scotland, meanwhile, took the crown when it comes to Crash Bandicoot, while folks over in Ireland are the best at Super Mario. Kwalee compartmentalised its report by putting together an official ranking, adding up all the data across all monitored games. Here’s how it shaked out:
