    Learn more about Oculus Rift

When Oculus designed the Rift it was with one intention in mind: to let the user experience immersion and the sensation of presence in virtual reality with the minimum of ease. The result of four years of development, the Oculus Rift is a refined piece of kit designed to make everything easy.

    Unrivalled, understated comfort

    Unrivalled, understated comfort

The team behind the Oculus Rift has obviously considered the practical implications behind wearing a big VR headset. A minimalist design was built with the intention of being able to slip the Rift on like a baseball cap and weight has been distributed so that it can be worn a long time without feeling fatigued, which means more time for gaming.

    Simple to setup

At the premium end of VR immersion, you’d be forgiven for thinking that getting everything setup and working would be complex. However, with the Oculus Rift this couldn’t be further from the truth.

As long as your PC is ready to go, you can plug in your Rift, quickly install some files place the sensor in front of you and that’s it; you’re ready to experience VR.

    Choosing an Oculus Rift Deal

At the premium end of virtual reality headsets, the Oculus Rift has some strong competition. Fortunately the first of the first-generation VR headset has set out it’s stall and holds it own. It’s simplicity to setup and dedication to gaming make the Oculus Rift a very desirable option.

However, there are some things to consider when shopping for Oculus Rift deals.

    Additional cost for controllers

The launch version of the Oculus Rift ships with a standard Xbox One controller, which is ok but not ideal. VR is best experienced with a dedicated motion tracking controller. Oculus are launching their VR controller, called Oculus Touch, but whether they will be bundled with future headsets or not is unknown.

When deciding between various Oculus Rift deals, it’s worth taking a moment to consider whether you will want the Oculus Touch in the future as that will be an additional cost.

    Minimum performance requirements

It’s no secret now that the Oculus Rift makes strong demands of the PC that is powering it.

60fps is the benchmark frame rate for multiplayer first-person shooters, and that requires a good spec PC will a Full HD monitor. However, Oculus are insisting that games should be able to run at a constant 90fps to match the headsets refresh rate.

If you are running a PC that meets the minimum specs, you are going to be disappointed with your VR experience. When comparing Oculus Rift deals, you should consider whether your PC needs upgrading and factor this in.
