Our pick of the best PS4 racing games you should be playing

PlayStation is a place that has a long and storied history when it comes to racing games, with most players likely being familiar with the platform’s fabled Gran Turismo franchise. Since the early days of PlayStation One, Polyphony Digital’s celebrated driving sim franchise has enthused the passion of gearheads everywhere. However, there are plenty other racing games available on PS4. Here’s a quick look at the best PS4 racing games available to buy today.

Gran Turismo Sport

Getting the obvious out of the way to start off with, Gran Turismo Sport represents a natural next step for PlayStation’s trademark racing game. As the first game in the series to be release for PS4, it features a whopping 278 different cars to try out, 18 vibrant locations to race in and GT’s two classic game modes – Sports and Arcade – to do it in. Both cater to the two basics types of racing game enthusiast, making Gran Turismo Sport an ideal addition to everyone’s PS4 library.

DriveClub

Next on our list is DriveClub, which should have been a launch title released alongside the PS4 in 2013. Developer Evolution Studios took its time to make this console exclusive to be the best it can be, however, taking ideas established in its Motorstorm series and applying it to this unique social racing game. DriveClub allows you to compete from players around the world who are part of their own rival factions, tasking you to compete and win to keep yours at the top of the rankings.

Wipeout: Omega Collection

Last but not least, if you’re someone who likes a more futuristic flavour to their racing games, the Wipeout series is sure to satisfy. The PS4’s entry, a collection of three fan-favourites dubbed “The Omega Collection”, just so happens to be the best way to jump in, featuring fully remastered versions of Wipeout HD, its Wipeout HD Fury expansion and Wipeout 2048. It’s even fully compatible with PlayStation VR, so if you have a PSVR headset, you can fully immerse yourself in Wipeout’s brand of anti-grav racing like never before.
