Should I buy a PS4 on Cyber Monday?
The deals you can see above are the best that Cyber Monday has to offer on the PS4. The PS4 Slim 500GB bundle, with an RRP of £249.99, has been reduced by around £50, while the same is true of the Pro, which is down to £299 from £349.
So should you buy your PS4 on Cyber Monday? To be completely honest, it’s hard to say. While the prices above are good, they aren’t exactly earth-shattering; we’ve seen these prices at several points during the last two years, and compared to the big price cuts on the Xbox One, they’re a little underwhelming, particularly as the PS5 is only a year away.
We expect Ebay to run a sale later this week that will involve the likes of Currys, Argos and ShopTo. However, the price on the PS4 may well have reverted back to RRP by then, meaning even a 10 or 15% discount is unlikely to match the prices live right now. If you’re not desperate to shop online, then check out the latest event that Tesco are running in-store, where the PS4 can be had for even less.
The one caveat we would add is that the likes of Currys and Argos have Ebay stores, which typically match the price of their main websites. If Ebay run a discount code, which they do often in the week after Black Friday, then there are some potentially even bigger savings to be had, if you’re willing to hold out.
How much was the PS4 last year on Black Friday?
Last year, the Pro hit a low of around £299 (with a game included), while the Slim was discounted to, in most cases, £219 with two games (one of which was a relatively new major release, FIFA 19 or Red Dead Redemption 2), though an Ebay voucher code sale dropped the price further to £195 around a week after Black Friday. This year, we’ve seen the price of the Slim with a game drop to £209 during promo periods, while the Pro with a game has been £299. This suggests that we should see bigger deals on the PS4 than last year, particularly with the PS5 confirmed as on the way. As for Ebay sales, they don’t tend to typically run between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but can crop up in the week after, and can offer even further savings on prices from the likes of Currys and Argos.
