Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is free to play this weekend via Xbox’s Free Play Days

They say that the best things in life are free. Microsoft tends to understand this more than most, regularly treating Xbox players to a handful of games that are temporarily available to play without charge for a limited time each weekend. The program is called Free Play Days, for those unaware, and it returns this Friday with a game that’ll have players monkeying around.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Golf subscribers have a total of three games to play this weekend, but the most notable in SuperMonkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD. Why? Well, not only is it a pretty exceptional remaster of one of the franchise’s best entries, but it also serves as the perfect starter course until the recently announced Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania launches later this year.

Sega’s puzzle-platformer will have you rolling your way through various colourful stages, collecting bananas and dodging obstacles while trying to achieve the best score. The Xbox One version (also playable on Series S|X) features updated visuals, enhanced gameplay and revamped controls, making this HD-ified iteration of Banana Blitz the preferred way to play. No monkey business – you can even compete against others in 10 party games. Who can manoeuvre around with the most grace? This weekend presents the perfect time to find out!

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD becomes temporarily available via Free Play Days tomorrow, alongside 3-v-3 multiplayer game For Honor and adventure-filled sandbox The Survivalists. You only need to be a Game Pass or Gold member to quite literally go bananas, as already mentioned, able to enjoy something a bit different this weekend.
