Should you wait until Black Friday for Xbox and PlayStation deals?

Black Friday may begin officially on 25th November but many major retailers such as Amazon, Argos, Tesco and Currys have already begun the annual price slash. This is great news for gamers and bargain hunters alike who are looking to pick up savings on Xbox and PlayStation.

As Black Friday sales seem to get earlier every year, one question we get asked a lot is should people take advantage of the early deals or wait to the big day. Here, we have rounded up some of the best current deals, and whether or not we think it’s worth buying now.

Best of the early Xbox One deals

For those willing to purchase early, this deal is worth the consideration. It’s unlikely the original Xbox One will drop any less than £149 on Black Friday, and you get two games with this bundle.

If you need the extra capacity then you’ll struggle to find a deal that beats this bundle. You get two triple A games plus 1TB capacity for less than £200, saving you over £59.

If you are looking for the 40% smaller Xbox One S with HDR, then this is the cheapest current bundle. It comes with a very popular game, however, you might actually be better waiting for Black Friday itself for Xbox One S deals.

Best of the early PS4 deals

A brilliant console, with a game of the year contender, from a very reputable retailer, at a great price. However, we expect Uncharted 4 to be one of the more popular PS4 bundled deals this Black Friday, but stock could be an issue.

Regardless of whether you love or hate the new Call of Duty game, Call of Duty Modern Warfare was one of the best CoD’s ever. This bundle allows you to avoid paying a high price for the legacy edition of the game, and you get 1TB worth of capacity for your PS4.

Another large capacity console but this comes with three games. The Last of Us may be an old game now, but it’s still a game that should be in everybody’s library. The addition of Driveclub and Uncharted 4 means you are saving quite a bit on this bundle deal.

Potential Black Friday deals

Rumours are already surfacing of some of the deals we can expect to see on Black Friday. Across various forums, images and hearsay suggest that we will see deals on the PS4 slim starting from £199, bundled with various games including FIFA 17, Uncharted 4 and Overwatch.

With the Xbox One S; £219 seems to be the lowest price quoted yet, once again this is with games such as FIFA 17, Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3.

While it is possible that there will be additional savings to be made come Black Friday, it’s worth remembering that retailers in previous years have jumped the gun early, leading to problems with stock, as well as access to major websites.

Last year, Smyths Toys and GAME both launched their Black Friday deals at 8pm on the Thursday, meaning that those waking up on Black Friday morning were disappointed to find out they had missed out on the best deals.

Therefore, it’s worth thinking hard on whether to take advantage of the early Black Friday deals now, or play the waiting game and potentially bag further savings.
