Remote Play on PS4/PS Vita

PS Vita as a PS4 Controller

By On 29th July, 2013

Shuhei Yoshida from Sony Computer Entertainment has confirmed that the PlayStation Vita can only be used as a PS4 controller if a games developers have programmed it in.

The clarification came from Shuhei Yoshida’s twitter account and one of his followers asked the question if the Vita could be used as a second controller, to which he replied.
“In a normal sense, no, unless a game is specifically programmed to allow such use of PS Vita.”

Although every PS4 game will not take advantage of this feature, Sony has still promised that the Vita will be able to play almost all PlayStation 4 titles via its remote play feature.

What is remote play?

Remote play is a way to play your PlayStation 4 games on its portable brother, the PS Vita. The way this work isn’t yet confirmed, but we suspect that the PS4 uploads its stream of a game through the internet, then as long as the PS Vita has a wifi connection it can download the steam of the game and allow you to play it.

There are still many questions left to be answered though.

Can i turn on my PS4 with my Vita and start up a game?
Else the neighbours would be sick of me ringing to pop round and turn on my ps4.

What sort of Internet connection / Speed will be required?
I live out in the sticks with a pretty low speed connection, upload especially.

Would you use this feature? Let us know!
