Pre-order the Glacier White PS4 Slim now. Is it worth it?

Pre-orders are now open for the new Glacier White PS4 Slim, which was announced by Sony on 10 January. It comes with a Glacier White DualShock 4 controller.

The new colour option goes on sale on Tuesday, 24 January, and Console Deals’ retailer partners were quick to let us know you can put your name on one now.

So, is a white PS4 Slim worth your cash?

It’s £259.99 and has 500GB of storage

Current pre-orders price the Glacier White 500GB PS4 at £259.99, which is £60 more expensive than the current cheapest black version.

There’s no 1TB version either, except in Japan. So, if you want a healthy amount of storage, you’ll need to upgrade the hard disk yourself or go for a 1TB black model. Given the Japanese release, a 1TB version could come to the UK later this year.

Is a Glacier White case and controller worth the premium? That’s up to you, but we think it looks rather elegant.

No white PS4 Pro yet

Unfortunately, Sony dropped no hints about a white PS4 Pro. So, if you want the most powerful PlayStation, you’ll need to stick with black for now.

Should you wait for a white Pro? It’s hard to say whether Sony will ever release one. The decision will probably rest on how well the Pro sells, so it could be a while before we find out.
