Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Bundle

Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle Leaked

It’s now been a month since the launch of the Nintendo Switch. The early news is very good indeed, with the Switch even outselling the PS4 and Xbox One here at Console Deals in weeks when the stock levels have been good.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a roaring success for the system as the flagship launch title. Now, even with the hundreds of hours of gameplay Breath of the Wild offers, attention is turning to the next big game.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an update on what many consider to be the best version of the popular racing series ever. Released on the 28th of April, MK8D will feature several new characters, enhanced visuals and a revamped battle mode. The battle mode is particularly exciting, thanks to the Switch’s Joy-Con pairs being ideal for local multiplayer.

The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe release has just got even more exciting, thanks to an apparent leak of the Switch’s first integrated game bundle. The Nintendo Switch subreddit was the first with the scoop.

Sourced from Nintendo’s Russian site, the screen grab offers a few hints as to what the bundle may entail. Firstly, you get a snazzy Mario Kart-themed Switch box. Secondly, the box art includes an image of Mario Kart’s entire case. This suggests that the bundle will likely contain a physical copy of the game, rather than a pre-installed digital version. Nintendo have never been one to shy away from nostalgia, and they know many gamers like to display their game cases with pride, so this would make sense.

A Nintendo spokesperson has told Gamespot that the bundle will be exclusive to Russia for the foreseeable future. However, given that the Wii U and 2DS have both had hugely successful Mario Kart bundles, it would be remarkable if the bundle didn’t see the light of day over here in the UK at some point soon. Don’t be surprised to see the bundle available here in advance of Black Friday.

The price has been listed at 24,999 RUB, which converts to roughly £350. The Switch itself currently sells for 22,499 RUB, just over £315 (in the UK, the base price is £279.99). Time will tell how Nintendo translates this price to the UK market.
