Gears of War has remained one of the Xbox eco-system’s trademark franchise exclusives for well over 10 years now, making it almost tradition by this point to expect a brand new special edition console around the time of every entry’s release. Today, Major Nelson himself gave us a close look at the Gears 5 limited edition Xbox One X console and accessories – available for pre-order today.

As you might expect from a series centred on humanity’s battle against an underground alien threat, the Gears 5 limited edition Xbox One X sports an inherently battle-hardened aesthetic. Whereas Gears of War 4’s special console was drenched in blood red, however, the Gears 5 rendition boasts a cracked concrete design. You don’t have to look hard to find the infamous COG skull logo in the console’s centre, matched again by a concrete grey limited edition Xbox One wireless controller.

In a full break down of the Gears 5 bundle, Major Nelson outlined its contents over on his blog:

  • The limited edition Xbox One X
  • The Xbox Wireless Controller – Kait Diaz Limited Edition,
  • A full-game download of Gears 5 Ultimate Edition,
  • A full-game download of Gears of War Ultimate Edition,
  • Full-game downloads of Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Gears of War 4 (note that Gears 5 and Gears of War 4 are both Xbox Play Anywhere titles, meaning they are yours to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC)
  • 1-month memberships to Xbox Game Pass
  • Xbox Live Gold along with in-game Ice Kait and the Ice Jack Character Skins.

That should be more than enough to keep every Gears of War fan foaming out the mouth before they sink their teeth into the new Xbox exclusive, which, as a reminder, is due to release on 10th September. This Gears 5 limited edition bundle will release alongside it, but as already mentioned is available for pre-order from select UK retailers now:

Alternatively, if it’s just the Gears 5 game itself your after, you can pre-order that for the lowest price at any of the following retailers:
