Merry Christmas and welcome to our round-up of the biggest December game releases!
Most of the season’s biggest titles are out now, but there are still one or two exciting new games to save a space in your stocking for. Here are our picks.
Just Cause 3 (PS4, Xbox One) – 1st Dec 2015
At 400 square miles, Just Cause 3’s map is about the same size as its’ predecessor. But on the mountainous island of Medici you can get ready to explore caves, scale huge buildings and lots more new stuff.
There are some concerns about frame-rate in the console versions, but that also tells you what an ambitious new adventure this is for Rico Rodriguez. You’ll be grappling, parachuting and wing-suiting your way to glory, blowing stuff up in ridiculous fashion as you go. Enjoy!
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege (PS4, Xbox One) – 1st Dec 2015
The new Rainbow Six reinvents the series as a 5 v 5 team shooter with amazing environmental destruction. The exploding scenery isn’t just for fun either – you can blast holes in walls and floors to get new angles on your enemies. There’s never a safe hiding place.
The sound, uh, sounds pretty cool in Rainbow Six Siege too. There’s no music – all you hear are the footsteps, gunshots and shouts of your teammates and foes. Surround systems should really be an advantage here.
Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U) – 4th Dec 2015
With Zelda and Star Fox Zero delayed, Wii U’s big new game for Christmas is this sequel to the Wii RPG classic.
There’s been hype around Xenoblade Chronicles X ever since its Nintendo Direct reveal back in 2013. Flying mech suits! Massive open worlds! More of the action we loved in Xenoblade! Japanese sales weren’t that hot, but previews over here are already heaping praise on X. Check it out.
Xenoblade Chronicles X Wii U 32GB Console Bundle
So excited about the new Xenoblade that you’re buying a Wii U just to play it? This new console bundle comes out the same day and includes a limited edition artbook and map. We've found the lowest prices in our Wii U deals section.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (3DS) – 4th Dec 2015
Nintendo’s last big 3DS game of the year is a new mash-up between the 2D RPG silliness of Paper Mario and the co-op gameplay of the Mario & Luigi series.
Reviews have praised the game for its blend of the two series’ art styles, funny dialogue and even tough challenges later in the game.
