Eric Brown, EA's Chief financial officer believes that the two week earlier release of EA's Battlefield 3 over Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will provide them with a massive advantage. Battlefield 3 will be released in the UK on October 28, then two weeks later Modern Warfare 3 is release on November 8. Eric Brown revealed that an unbelievable 1.25 million copies of Battlefield 3 have been pre-ordered.
"To date we have about 1.25 million pre-orders on Battlefield 3, so it’s still well ahead of its predecessor title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, in regards to pre-orders in the same number of weeks until launch. So it’s doing very well,"
EA have promise "A pretty extensive campain planned for Battlefield 3" and we can definitely expect so see lots of adverts and trailers for the upcoming release.
100 Hours worth of unlocks per class
DICE have said that to complete an entire kit for one class including every weapon, upgrade, gadget and tech will take something like 100 hours of gametime! DICE are trying hard to promote the longevity of battlefield with Vehicle upgrades, 4 class's, Pins, medals and dogtags for a player to earn its going to take a lengthy span to complete 100%
With 6 weeks still left to go before launch it will be very interesting to see how many copies Battlefield 3 sells compared to Modern warfare 3. Call of duty modern warfare 2 sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone one of the best if not the best selling FPS of all time, we will just have to wait and see.
