Remedy Games might be most famous for its supernatural third-person actioner Control, but back in the day it was thought of fondly for its Xbox 360 title Alan Wake. Taking inspiration from the likes of Stephen King and Twin Peaks, this spooky adventure focused on the titular writer’s decent into the unknown within the sleepy town of Bright Falls. Up until now it’s remained an Xbox exclusive on console, but a new listing leak reveals that this may soon no longer be the case.
This remastered version of Alan Wake was leaked by the Epic Games Store database and Taiwanese version backend network Rakuten before being shared on Twitter by reputable industry expert Wario64. It clearly shows a PS5 version of the cult-classic horror game, alongside versions for both the Xbox Series and PlayStation 4. A potential release date of October 5th is also mentioned – just in time for Halloween.
This leads us to assume that an official reveal is being prepped in time for Sony’s PlayStation Showcase on September 9th. The platform-holder promised audiences a digital presentation that “will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond.” We’d say early October just about falls into that Holiday period.
Even if Alan Wake Remastered doesn’t show up at this event, it’s highly likely that an announcement will arrive either from Remedy itself or the publisher soon. The listing shared on Twitter also seemingly indicates that this won’t just be a digital release either, with physical copies of Alan Wake Remastered a strong likelihood.
We’ll be sure to update this post as soon as pre-orders for Alan Wake Remastered go live.
